We must honor our commitment to current Social Security and Medicare beneficiaries and those who are nearing eligibility. I want to preserve the benefits and the contributions people have made into the system, but starting in the 2030s, there could be a reduction in benefits people receive. This is absolutely unacceptable. We must ensure the long-term sustainability of these programs so future generations can have the peace of mind and security these programs provide seniors.

I will continue to look for bipartisan solutions that preserve and strengthen Social Security for today’s seniors and future generations while also promoting policies that help Americans at all stages of life to save for retirement. I am committed to preserving these critical programs for decades to come.
